Despite not being officially announced by Ubisoft at the time of writing, a Far Cry 7 rumour has fans seriously divided.

Some fans are perhaps getting a bit tired of Ubisoft’s tried and tested formula of the Far Cry series, but there is no doubt when the next game arrives, it will be a big deal for its community. That being said, when Far Cry 7 is eventually announced, there’s every chance that it could be a next-gen title.

The last game to be released in the popular series is Far Cry 6 which launched in 2021 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Usually, it can take two to three years for a sequel to arrive, so it’s a bit strange that Ubisoft hasn't announced Far Cry 7 yet.

That being said, a Far Cry 7 rumour has got fans talking and it’s related to it potentially having a time limit perhaps similar to what we’ve seen in Dead Rising.

“So... I just read an article that said Far Cry 7 will likely have a "time limit", meaning you'll have to rescue the family (this is the central plot task) before a certain clock runs out,” said Redditor ThulrVO.

“I don't know about you, but as a long-time Far Cry fan, I won't be buying this one, if this rumour is true. I have zero interest in time trials,” they continued. “I'm into these games for the story and the freedom of exploration.”

“I would hate feeling rushed and think it would ruin the entire experience of what Far Cry means to me. This is especially sad, being that I hold the unpopular opinion that Far Cry games keep getting better, with Far Cry 6 being my favourite so far,” they concluded.

“If this is true, I am right there with you,” replied epd666 with Outrageous-Quote-999 adding “If it's true, it will be the first Far Cry game I didn't play. I hate games with time limits.”

“I agree with you. I play games to relax. The Far Cry series allows me to move at whatever pace I choose and in whatever order I want,” said No-Raspberry5030. “Placing time limits on tasks will mean I won’t be buying Far Cry 7.”

It should be taken into account that this time limit concept is merely speculation at this time, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

Hopefully, Ubisoft will announce Far Cry 7 by the time we get to Summer Game Fest in June next year. We’ll keep you posted when that information officially drops.
