It’s no secret that the last few Far Cry games have been a little divisive among fans.

Perhaps it’s that players are finally getting a little fatigued with the Ubisoft formula, but considering we haven’t heard much about the next Far Cry game, a dramatic shake-up for the series is probably imminent.

A leak for Far Cry 7 has teased just what exactly the next game in the series might include, and it doesn’t sound too bad from what we can see.

As posted on Reddit, a casting call from last year hints at a basic plot outline for Far Cry 7, detailing where it’s set and what the story will involve.

Remember that this is a rumour for now until confirmed by Ubisoft, so take it all with a pinch of salt.

The plot, which sounds a bit like the television show Succession, will revolve around the Bennets, a wealthy family from New England in the midst of a power struggle.

These characters have been given the names Layla, Dax, Brie, Christian, Henry, and Krista. However, with these names appearing on a casting call, they’re subject to change.

As for the villain, his name is Ian Duncan (probably not a reference to John Oliver’s character on Community), who has been described as a “conspiracy theorist with an army of believers” and an “envy of the wealthy elite and the power they wield.”

The leak also teases a few other characters who will appear in the game: John Mackay and a doctor named Safna Kazan.

Ubisoft has yet to reveal anything about Far Cry 7, though speculation on who could play the villain has been well underway.

The series has previously featured Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Mando, and Troy Baker as its villains, so there’s always a chance another big actor will be cast as the main baddie for the seventh installment.
