Far Cry 7 appears to have survived Ubisoft’s major cull after six games were cancelled by the developer last month.
To this day, Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed all of the affected titles.
A remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was confirmed as one of the canned projects, despite the fact that development was practically complete.
Outside of that, Ubisoft simply referred to the other titles as “3 new IPs, and a mobile title”.

There’s been speculation that the mobile game could be Assassin’s Creed Jade which hasn’t surfaced since its playtests in 2023.
It always seemed pretty clear that the next Far Cry instalment had survived the cull given that it’s not a new IP.
Even still, it’s a relief to hear that confirmation straight from the horse’s mouth.
Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot recently sat down with Variety, where he confirmed that two Far Cry games are currently in development.
“On Far Cry, anticipation is high, and we currently have two very promising projects in development," he said.
Guillemot didn’t elaborate, but it’s perhaps not a stretch to argue that we’re looking at Far Cry 7 and some kind of spin-off.
Far Cry 7 feels like a given considering the title has leaked online several times before.
Far Cry 7 Could Introduce a Time Limit, as Devs Also Work On an Extraction Shooter
If insiders are to be believed, Far Cry 7 is set to introduce a very controversial mechanic to the franchise.
According to a report previously published by Insider Gaming in 2024, Far Cry 7 will include a time limit mechanic.
It’s claimed that the player character will need to rescue their family who have been taken, hostage with the timer revealing how long you have left to achieve that.
Of course, it’s hard to know precisely how the time limit will work.

For example, the upcoming The Blood of Dawnwalker features a ‘time limit’ but it doesn’t actually relate to IRL or in-game time.
Instead, completing main quests chips away at the timer, while exploration and side quests won’t.
Far Cry 7 could be going for the same thing, or saving your family could entirely rest on completing the game in, say, 24 hours.
The latter would be interesting, but it could prove divisive.
I’m actually inclined to believe Insider Gaming is onto something here though.
As I said, the report was published in 2024, and it claimed two Far Cry games were in development. Two years on, we’ve now heard Guillemot confirm as much.
Insider Gaming says that the second game is an extraction shooter.
As always, I do have to urge you to take all unconfirmed leaks with a pinch of salt but as Guillemot has somewhat confirmed half of this one, I’m inclined to say it’s an instance of there being no smoke without fire.
