Fallout 4 players probably missed a hidden treasure hunt, involving messages in bottles and a wander around the beach.
Fallout isn’t short on secrets with each game having its own hidden quests, details and more, some better than others.
When you look at Fallout 4 you might see one of the weakest Fallout games but in terms of its open-world design it’s very, very impressive, you just need the patience to explore it properly.

Take this hidden treasure hunt for example, which even I had no idea about after a few playthroughs myself.
Found this in a Reddit thread from a while ago that features several hidden details and quests that most players probably either walked straight past, or found without understanding their significance.
The comment that stood out to me was one that said “along the beaches there are six bottles with messages in them. Each leads to a hidden treasure offshore. Happy hunting.”
As someone who tends to stick to the city when playing Fallout 4 I had no idea the barren beach areas had anything to offer, let alone a cute treasure hunt.

You’ll find supplies and other valuable items when you track their locations with the bottles, and it’s a fun little side quest for when you’re in-between missions.
There are plenty more secrets too, and one of my personal favourites is found literally in the starting area, where you first fight the deathclaw in power armour.
The raider attack you’re fending off is interrupted by the beast breaking out of the sewers (which is terrifying by the way, they could be lurking underneath you at any point) and attacking whatever it sees first.
If you check the hole it burst out of you’ll find some goodies down there, nothing impressive but it’s a cool detail nonetheless.

Fallout games are full of them, and I sincerely hope Fallout 5 really goes all-in on the open-world interactivity.
