Steam Adds 8 New Free Games You Definitely Missed

The backlog keeps on growing

Free games can, let’s face it, be hit and miss.

But there are so many released on a weekly basis that the misses don’t really matter; you can cast those aside and just download and play those you fancy.

It’s with this in mind that I want to highlight eight recent free additions to PC platform Steam, as brought to our attention by SteamGamesPC.

Let’s begin with Last Heist from D Games, a multiplayer horror heist game that sees players team-up to, you guessed it, carry out a heist.

The twist here is that one player is secretly ‘the killer’ and must sabotage the group to keep the loot for themselves.

It sounds like a fun premise and the gameplay doesn’t look bad; I’m sure it won’t be long before the paranoia sets in and you all start doubting one another. Probably worth a go.

Silent Seeker is yet another multiplayer game centred around, no surprises here, the game of hide and seek.

Developed by solo dev Paolo Orlandino, you’ll either want to disguise yourself as a prop and hide from ‘the hunter’ or play as the hunter trying to sniff out rogue player props.

It looks pretty basic but I could see this offering a couple hours of fun with friends. There’s a goofiness to disguising yourself as a prop that could be amusing.

Nora and Frank is an interesting looking game from Chertobook; it’s an action roguelike where players will blast through “hordes of vicious mutants and science-gone-wrong experiments”.

It’s already received 86% ‘Positive’ reviews so players seem impressed.

Phantom Feline is next up. This one comes from Scott Serafin, Jet Thompson, Evan McRae, and Aidan Brown.

Inspired by the Game Boy era, Phantom Feline is a puzzle game where players will make use of light and shadow to work their way through a series of rooms.

It looks very charming and already has 100% ‘Positive’ reviews.

For those who love chess, Mate in Eleven may be the game for you.

Created by bbsify, it’s an auto chess battler, so it might be a skip for those without an interest.

Saga of Guardians is also an auto battler, with collectible card game elements.

Developed by a team of the same name as the game, players will build their decks and climb the ranks in a PvP area.

It’s not my cup of tea but hey, it might be yours.

The HELL Prologue: City Builder of the Dead is the only prologue on this list which means, yes, it’s a precursor to a larger game. A glorified demo, if you will.

It comes from Metropolice and sees players take up the role of the Hell Governor who’s job it is to run Hell.

It’s a city builder with management elements but, of course, running hell will come with some unique and quirky requirements. Sounds decent.

Lastly, we end on Excommunication from MagicalElf.

This is one for the hank n slash fans; “Excommunication is an artistic experience in which the heretics dream of uprising. But let steel be your answer. No heretic shall remain,” teases the mysterious synopsis.

Players have already called it an “absolutely amazing game” so perhaps this too is worth a go.

There’s plenty more choice if you browse what else Steam has to offer. You don’t have to spend money to have fun.
