Steam Adds 8 Free Games You Can Keep Forever, No Catch

Plenty here to keep you occupied

In need of something new to play?

Well, PC storefront Steam has just added an additional eight free-to-play games, once again brought to our attention by the ever-reliable SteamGamesPC.

Let’s begin with Road Trip to the End of the World, a visual novel from Shark and Pelican Games and Alex M. Lee.

This one’s a story that examines the death of a friendship, prompting Andy to set off on a road trip with her imaginary friend Fishy in tow.

It’s already received ‘Very Positive’ reviews, with one player writing, “Oh man, this was an experience. I really enjoyed the message, the music, the atmosphere—everything.”

If you prefer difficult platformers, then you may enjoy Cube Ninja.

It comes from developer CY & Leo & Leon, and sees you tasked with sending souls back to the underworld forever as you navigate tricky, fast-paced levels.

If you’ve been spending all your time playing Hollow Knight: Silksong, then you’ll likely pick up its gameplay rather quickly.

To satisfy those with a roguelike craving, there’s Pizza Wearing Pants’ Croak Cafe: From Pond to Plate where you run a cafe, serving food to your hungry customers.

“Upgrade your skills and face challenging bosses in this fast-paced culinary adventure,” it teases.

Oh, and it already boasts ‘Positive’ reviews.

More of a sci-fi fan? Then you might want to check out Rail Gunner, a sci-fi rail shooter from RunSwimFly.

“Defend your train against AI controlled robots which run, fly, rocket, and roll in pursuit,” the description reads.

It looks fairly simple in concept but one review praises the title as being “immediately engaging”, so there you go.

Team Snowball brings us the aptly named The Most Epicest Snowball Fight Ever which sees you, yes, participate in a snowball fight.

You’ll be taking down snow monsters in this turn-based tactics game.

“Can you defeat the forces of the evil Baron von Slushie?” it asks.

The ‘Positive’ reviews suggest it’s worth attempting to do so.

Tiny Studio brings us Watertight which is one for the horror fans amongst you.

It’s a first-person horror where an accident "cripples your submarine while trying to find the wreck of the Titanic”.

“In the darkness, you must restore life-support systems through tense puzzles, only to discover that you are not alone.”

It’s described as a short experience, plus it’s garnered ‘Very Positive’ reviews. I daren’t say this might be the best of the bunch.

Building Jumper doesn’t have the greatest name, but it comes from solo dev Hwanhee Choi.

The idea is that you’re trying to climb up a building to find out what’s at the top; just please don’t jump. I don’t like the idea of that at all.

Finally, we end with Stocks, a title that only has ‘Mixed’ reviews.

From envymydisease, this one’s a collector simulator and clicker “where you earn rare items just by staying in the game”.

Not my type of thing at all, but it’s there if it’s yours.

All of these titles are available to enjoy on Steam for free now.
