Dark Souls and Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki appears to be back at it again.
Arguably two of the most era-defining games of all time, Dark Souls and Elden Ring are masterpieces.
Hailing from gargantuan Japanese studio FromSoftware, the RPGs have paved the way for an industry of successful mock-ups, and we've been waiting with bated breath to see what will come next.
Now, it looks like numerous games are in the works at the company, as Miyazaki let slip of 'unnamed' projects in the pipeline, amid a shareholder power struggle.
Back in 2024, hot off the back of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa Corporation teased that it was working on 26 new games, the large majority of them coming to consoles and PC.

This spurred many people on to believe in an Elden Ring successor.
Now, Miyazaki has followed up on this, commenting on the influence of a new investor group that has trumped the shares of Sony in FromSoftware, but has a history of turning games into microtransaction-heavy revenue streams.
In a statement to Japanese outlet Denfaminico Gamer, the Elden Ring creator said that although he is aware of the ongoing business, he was happy with the creative environment at the studio.
"I’m not saying that there’s no room for improvement, but we can freely make the kind of games we want to make without excessive interference," he said
“I think for both myself and for FromSoftware, the most important thing going forward is to maintain this environment and focus as much as possible on game development.
"[Players] will look forward to both the announced and unannounced titles to come.”
On the 'announced' front, this relates to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 action game, The Duskbloods, and Elden Ring's port to the same console.

In fact, there's nothing in the way of console and PC games that we know of.
Previously, Miyazaki has flip-flopped between the future of Elden Ring, first claiming that some lore reveals are being withheld for a sequel, before backtracking and ruling out a follow-up game.
So, it's likely that the unannounced games are either new IPs or additions to the Dark Souls universe.
Coincidentally, next year will be the tenth anniversary of Dark Souls III, so there may be something lined up there.
Ruling out an Elden Ring instalment, though, it very well could be the next industry-defining RPG that follows in its footsteps, serving as a spiritual successor and a step forward for FromSoftware.
