Elden Ring officially returns later this year for a whole new audience, and we couldn’t be more excited.
It’s not unreasonable to say Elden Ring is one of the most important games of the last decade. It’s so much more than a Game of the Year winner and pretty soon it’ll be a live-action film.
While there are no plans for a sequel at the time of writing it’s clear we’re not done with this masterpiece just yet and now Nintendo Switch 2 port is finally on the way.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will include the full game and the fantastic Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which is practically a sequel in its own right.
It’ll also add two new Starting Classes to the game, as well as new armour pieces and the option to customise your trusty steed Torrent. Sounds like it's taking some notes from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s horse armour if you ask us…
Advert
Nintendo Switch 2 owners will get all of this on 28 August, which is a lot sooner than we thought given the initial delay.
Fear not though if you’re playing on Xbox, PlayStation or PC platforms you’ll still be able to get the new content, but unfortunately, you’ll have to pay extra for it… We’re sure everyone’s going to have a perfectly reasonable reaction to that news.

For Nintendo Switch owners though this is looking like a pretty sweet deal. You’re getting one of the best open-world games of all time on a handheld device and given what we’ve seen from other Nintendo Switch 2 ports the performance should be top-notch.
Games like Resident Evil Requiem play perfectly fine on Nintendo’s console so we can’t imagine Elden Ring will be much worse off. The biggest drawbacks will likely be render distance and fidelity. Maybe a bit less foliage in the open-world too.
You’re not buying Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the performance though, you’re buying it for the novelty of playing a FromSoftware game on the go.
We just wish the new additions were a free download for existing owners of the game, especially when so many purchased the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in addition to the base game.
Elden Ring:: Tarnished Edition isn’t the only FromSoftware game coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 either, as at the time of writing The Duskbloods is still on track for a 2026 release, unless a delay is on the way.
