Elden Ring fans have hailed a first look at an iconic location as “scarily accurate”, and we can’t wait to see this come to fruition.
In May 2025, the live-action Elden Ring movie was announced, and it’s to be produced by A24 and written and directed by Alex Garland (Civil War, Ex Machina, 28 Years Later). It will also feature George R.R. Martin as a producer who, of course, contributed to the world-building and lore of the video game by FromSoftware.
Earlier this week, the cast was revealed for the Elden Ring movie, and it includes some pretty big names, such as Nick Offerman, who played Bill in the live-action The Last of Us series from HBO. What’s more, assuming that the movie doesn't get delayed, it’s slated to be released in 2028, which isn't too far away.
So, with the Elden Ring movie only a couple of years away, it makes sense that production cogs have already begun turning. Shared on Reddit, we see what looks to be Leyndell, one of the more iconic locations in the game as captured by a fan near to the film set.

When you first enter Leyndell, you’d likely be charmed by its oddly welcoming aura, which is a weird sensation considering that everything in the Lands Between wants to kill you. It has a regal gold and white aesthetic, accompanied by a mythical melody that makes you feel like you’ve just wandered into a heavenly kingdom. Then, right on cue, everything tries to kill you!
No doubt, this would be one of the locations that Elden Ring fans are most excited to see in the movie, and after these on-set images started to make the social media rounds, it looks like the live-action version of Leyndell will not disappoint.
“First look at the set of Leyndell, and Marika in the Elden Ring movie?” asked ChiefLeef22. “I say that because the crests and the colours all match with the same thing in the game.”
While the images shared in the tweet are by no means official confirmation that it is Leyndell, it certainly looks like it.
“The biggest thing so far from this movie is just how scarily accurate the entire production design looks...like at the very least, I feel confident this is going to be a visual feast on IMAX,” added the original poster.
“As hesitant as I am towards the narrative potential of this movie, the set design looks immaculate. Massive credit to all those who worked on the sets,” praised VirgoxValentine.
“I’d love for this movie to be a prequel showing how Marika ascended to godhood. Show the crusade against the Hornsent and her other wars,” suggested Spaff_Wallbridge.
Without giving too much away, Queen Marika, who is referred to in the post, is a very pivotal character in Elden Ring, with the world pretty much centred around her. If this actress is her, and she’s playing a younger version of the character, perhaps this movie could be a prequel after all. Only time will tell.
Hopefully, now that the cast and sets are coming together, we might be treated to the first Elden Ring movie trailer later this year. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.
