Elden Ring fans are hopeful that a sequel to the critically acclaimed FromSoftware RPG is on the way following an update from the developer's owner.

As soon as Elden Ring was released in February 2022, it instantly became one of FromSoftware’s best games to date - and that’s saying something considering it’s from the studio that brought us the likes of Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, and Bloodborne.

Two years after the launch of Elden Ring, we were treated to its highly anticipated expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, in June 2024 and much like its predecessor, it was met with rave reviews across the board.

In our review of Shadow of the Erdtree, we said: “It guides the player by the hand into a brand-new world of mystery and intrigue, treats them to some of the most memorable fights in the series, and rounds things off the only way FromSoftware knows how, leaving you wondering what the hell just happened.”

Naturally, given how much of a great game Elden Ring and its expansion is, fans would love to see a sequel one day.

After all, the Dark Souls and Armored Core series have each benefited from fantastic sequels, unlike Bloodborne.

FromSoftware very loosely teased that a sequel to Elden Ring could happen but at the time of writing, there has been no sign of that becoming a reality.

However, as reported by GamesRadar, FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa Corporation confirmed in a recent investors call that the company has a whopping 26 games in production.

The investor's call revealed that 20 of those games in production are for consoles while the remaining six are for mobile.

It’s worth keeping in mind that Kadokawa Corporation does own far more companies than just FromSoftware, so it’s very likely that not all of those games are from the Elden Ring developer.

That being said, we’ve got to assume that at least a few of those 26 games are in production with FromSoftware, right? If so, while many will likely be new IPs, hopefully, there’ll at least be a sequel in there too, perhaps for Elden Ring and/or Bloodborne.

We’ll keep you posted if we hear of any further developments on what FromSoftware may or may not have in the works.
