Four years after its release, an Elden Ring player discovers a hidden item that just so happens to be one of the most important items in the game.
For good reason, FromSoftware is considered to be one of the best video game developers in the industry, after treating us to such bangers as Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, to name a few, and the topic of today’s discussion, 2022’s Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is amazing for multiple reasons. Its world is enticing, yet it offers a gruelling sense of adventure of the unknown, challenging but fun combat, stunning yet haunting visuals, and so many secrets that players all over the world will still be making discoveries today.
Player finds hidden item thanks to the Elden Ring community
“Found this while exploring Stormhill. Does it have any significance? Is it supposed to do something?” asked Redditor Choppedman6969. To no surprise whatsoever, fellow Redditors were keen to provide some answers.
“You can’t attack it, but other things can,” hinted JeebaRock. “Ask the troll, he’ll tell you,” added Junior_Seesaw1819.

Basically, the fellow Reddit users were hinting that the player isn't able to smash the object on the screen. But if you have a giant troll to chase you (one can be seen in the background of the image shared by the Redditor), you can trick it into hitting the statue and smashing it to bits. Then the player will be able to acquire a hidden item that was inside it.
Sure, this hidden item will be known by many players, but Elden Ring is welcoming new players all the time. What’s old news to us is the exact opposite for others.
Inside the statue is a Smithing Stone. This is one of the most important materials in the game, because it’s used to increase the power of your weapons, which can give you a big boost when combating enemies. It’s probably the main reason players grind the game when they’re initially struggling to defeat a boss.

Elden Ring is the most accessible FromSoftware game
FromSoftware is known for its gruelling action RPGs, where constant death is a lesson on how to improve in the game, not only with your combat skills, but also mental resilience, and Elden Ring is no exception.
However, Elden Ring is one of the most accessible games from the famed developer, because it’s easier to get a friend, random or an NPC Spirit Ash to join you to take on a badass boss.
The map of the Lands Between is open from the get-go, so you could explore and grind XP till your heart's content, and it has generously placed save points (Sites of Grace) scattered throughout the map, and more. It’s these kinds of life features that made first-time FromSoftware gamers welcome to Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It’s also coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026.
