Elden Ring Players Mourn Tortellini, Legendary Fish Who Beat Malenia

Rest in peace Tortellini

Elden Ring fans should be celebrating today as the new DLC for Elden Ring: Nightreign has launched, but instead they’re mourning the loss of a true Elden Lord.

Tortellini, the esteemed goldfish that managed to beat Elden Ring, has died after three years.

For those who missed his epic saga the goldfish, belonging to YouTuber PointCrow, was trained to play FromSoftware’s beloved soulsborne and accomplished feats no one could have expected.

Tortellini’s gameplay was controlled through motion, as his fish tank was rigged with various controller inputs so as he swam around the in-game character would move, dodge and attack.

Obviously he had a little help from his owner but that doesn’t diminish the fact he defeated Malenia, who’s often said to be the toughest boss in the base game. Tortellini even went on to finish the DLC expansion, Shadow Of The Erdtree, and defeated Promised Consort Radahn.

Unfortunately the internet legend has since passed away, with PointCrow announcing the news on X much to the dismay of Elden Ring fans everywhere.

“My goldfish Tortellini has passed away,” PointCrow’s post began before stating the goldfish had been struggling with an infection for the past few weeks.

“Rather than wax on all the mistakes I've made keeping fancy goldfish, lessons I've learned too late (there is so much to know), and how devastated I am over this loss, I really want to highlight all the accomplishments Tortellini has done” the Youtuber continued.

“Not only was he one of the only goldfish to play video games, he defeated some of the hardest bosses in Elden Ring -- Malenia and Consort Radahn to name a few … He was there to make us all laugh and bewilder us on how a small fish could do so much. He's lived a god damn good life.”

PointCrow ended the post saying how much the fish was missed, and how he’s probably “swimming in the great tank in the sky right now as happy as he can be.”

Losing a pet is always tough, but what a legacy Tortellini has left behind. He’s probably the most accomplished goldfish that’s ever existed.

Elden Ring fans shared their condolences in the comment section.

Reflecting on the incredible gaming achievement and wishing Tortellini all the best wherever he is now.

With Elden Ring: Nightreign’s new DLC, The Forsaken Hollow, launching today I’d imagine players will be diving in with heavy hearts, but I’m sure Tortellini would have wanted us to play on.
