Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Gets Promising Update From the Witcher 4 Developer

The release of Cyberpunk 2077 might have been one of the most spectacular fails in recent history, but boy does developer CD Projekt RED deserve some credit for how they've managed to turn the ship around in the intervening period.

The release of the Phantom Liberty DLC felt like a capstone for their efforts, as the game finally felt like the polished and technologically groundbreaking experience that we had been promised in the first place.

Since then, much of the conversation has turned to a potential sequel, with the developer remaining tight-lipped on any future plans for the fledgling series, beyond confirming that they were going to make one - until now.

As first reported by Game Rant, CD Projekt RED shared a tweet confirming exactly how their workforce was currently spending their time. The Witcher 4 is absolutely the studio's first priority, with 444 staff members actively working on making that game a reality.

Coming in second, though, is the Cyberpunk sequel, with 116 staff now involved in that ongoing project. That's a noticeable increase from the 96 assigned to work on it in April of this year and an encouraging sign for those who want to see the game release within the next five or six years.

The developer also shared further breakdowns for their staff members, including the 51 people working on "Sirius". That game is set to be a Witcher spin-off, though what exactly it will look like, or even what kind of game it will be, remains a major mystery.

Rounding out the roster of projects currently on the go is Hadar. Though it is currently the smallest scale job at the studio (with just 22 people), it might also be the most exciting.

That project is set to serve as the first new IP for the developer since Cyberpunk 2077, and we can't wait to see what they're cooking up when they are finally ready to reveal their efforts.
