The title for the sequel to CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 may have been quietly revealed.
Originally released in 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, Cyberpunk 2077 was a hot mess at launch, at least on last-gen consoles, despite spending about a decade in development.
It was buggy, had performance issues, visual glitches and more. For some, Cyberpunk 2077 was simply unplayable. Thankfully, however, the developers at CD Projekt RED worked tirelessly to make this sci-fi RPG one of the best games of its generation.

The real turning point came with the release of the free next-gen update on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Which not only improved visuals and performance, but also came with a ton of quality-of-life improvements and even free DLC.
That being said, I would strongly recommend not playing Cyberpunk 2077 on last-gen consoles and sticking with PC and current-gen systems. Nonetheless, fans are hyped for its confirmed sequel, despite not having a release date or even seeing a trailer.
However, as reported by Tweaktown.com, not only has the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel entered pre-production, as confirmed by CDPR, but its title may have been revealed.
At this time, at least publicly, the sequel has the codename Project Orion, but within the walls of CDPR, it’s reportedly being called Cyberpunk 2.

It’s also said that there are currently 96 developers working on the sequel, which will likely increase over time. It’s also likely that Cyberpunk 2 is at least a few years away from being released, which makes it a safe bet to be a next-gen title.
Personally, the name “Cyberpunk 2” is very generic, and I don't believe for a single second it will be its official title come release. But as always, we’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It’s also releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 June 2025.
