Massive 'Cyberpunk 2077' New-Gen Update Out Now, Alongside Free DLC

CD Projekt Red have been showing off the new 1.5 Patch on a livestream, which is set to bring a whole host of new improvements.

Oh boy, it’s everyone’s least-favourite broken game! Okay, sorry, maybe that’s a little harsh, but it’d be remiss not to mention the controversy. It’d be amazing if you somehow weren’t aware, but yeah, Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t exactly have the smoothest launch when it first released in December 2020.

Since its release, loads of bugs have been addressed via updates, so it’s hardly in the same broken mess it once was, but so many of the features which were promised before launch are still missing (although modders have been working on filling in the gaps, such as this working metro system). So, with that said, you’d think that CD Projekt Red’s efforts would be going towards updating the base game with more features, but no, they’re actually jumping straight into the next-gen update (although with lots of base-game improvements in tow, too, so I'll give them that).

ICYMI... check out the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 below.

In a livestream, the devs have been showing off the 1.5 Patch, which includes huge upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X. It’s set to include ray tracing features, 4K with dynamic scaling, faster loading times, and a variety of other visual and technical improvements.

Other improvements include the fact that crowds no longer de-spawn when you turn around, you now actually shower with clothes off (wonderful), a redesigned UI of the time-skip feature, and the added option to reject holocalls (you’ll now be sent a text message to follow up if you decline one).

As for the free DLC, there are new weapons in Wilson’s shop (which will become available during the first act of the game), the ability to change your appearance mid-game in your mirror (alongside new customisation options, which are also available from the start of the game if you’re making a new character), the option to customise your apartment in six new styles, and four new apartments to buy in different locations around Night City. The devs noted that unfortunately, Nibbles the cat doesn’t follow you to these new apartments, but apparently there are some new secrets to discover to do with him. Mysterious.

The majority of the new improvements are available on all platforms, but there are some exceptions - check out the table below for the specifics.

The patch and DLC are out now on PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside a free five hour trial of the game on Xbox, so you can try it out for yourself. The devs have made it clear that there are loads more new secrets hidden in the new patch that they didn’t want to reveal just yet, so it’s all very exciting. Assuming it’s not broken, anyway.
