65 year old gamer has spent 15 years obsessed with Call Of Duty: World At War

A 65-year-old gamer has spent the last 15 years obsessed with playing Call of Duty: World at War.

We all have our favourite video games to play, those games that can be the firm favourite to return to again and again over the years.

For me, my favourite video game of all time is the original Resident Evil 2 from 1998. This was a prime example of how a sequel should be done. It looked and played better, arguably had a more compelling story and while you couldn't really explore Raccoon City, the sequel just felt bigger and better.

That being said, as much as I love the original Resident Evil 2, I do like to play other games and for the most part, I’d assume that to be true for most gaming enthusiasts. Yet, that is not true for one 65-year-old gamer that has played nothing else other than Call of Duty: World at War for 15 years.

Released for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U in 2008, Call of Duty: World at War is a fantastic game. Set once more during World War II, it told the story from the perspective of the Pacific and Eastern Front focusing on the conflict between the US, Japan, Soviet Union and Germany. It was also the first game in the series to introduce the ever-popular Zombies mode.

However, as reported by Game Rant, the devoted 65-year-old fan perhaps loves this Call of Duty entry more than anyone. “My 65 yr old father in law has played one game for the last 15 yrs. These are his stats,” posted Redditor jagrbomb.

At the time of the photo above being taken, the Gamertag belonging to Airborne57 had accumulated 293 days, 14 hours and 23 minutes. As a result, this very devoted gamer has earned the maximum Prestige emblem that looks suspiciously like Starmie.

What’s more, Airborne57 has a total score that is approaching half a million, and with 498, 768 kills and 294,385 deaths, he has a very respectable Kill/Death ratio of 1.69 (nice).

Naturally, the Reddit thread is full of compliments for the veteran gamer. “To put it into perspective, your old man's basically killed the entire population of Liverpool [and then some], in the UK,” said verygenericname2.

“That’s 91 kills a day for 15 years straight,” added bluAstrid. “Dude's gonna have a 1.66 K/D after half a million kills, that's f*****g insane,” said an impressed ricdesi.

With rumours of the next Call of Duty being Modern Warfare III, arriving this year, hopefully, we will one day see a return to World at War in some capacity and if we do, I hope Activision finds a way to immortalise Airborne57.
