Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 announces free-to-play period, limited-time only

For a whole WEEK?!

Activision has just announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is about to go free-to-play this month, so you might wanna get your Christmas shopping out of the way now before you get too distracted.

As revealed last night on the official Call of Duty blog, Black Ops 6 will be free to play from December 13 to December 20.

For some reason, they buried this info at the very end of the 35-entry-long post though, so keep scrolling and I promise you’ll eventually see it.

By the sounds of things, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be free on every single platform during this period too.

No matter your console of choice, you’ll be able to get your hands on the free trial. Unless you only have a Nintendo Switch, because Black Ops 6 isn’t available on Nintendo hardware.

Take a look at the game in action below.

Now before you get too excited, the free trial doesn’t actually include the entire game.

For starters, you can’t play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s campaign during the trial. I guess they know better than to offer that part of the game up for free.

And while both the multiplayer and zombies modes are available, you only get access to a limited selection of maps.

On the multiplayer side of things, you can play the Racket, Hacienda, Nuketown Holiday, Extraction, Hideout, and Heirloom maps. For zombies, only the Liberty Falls and Terminus maps are available.

Also, the modes within multiplayer are limited too. The only modes you can play are Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Kill Order and Prop Hunt.

Not bad for a whole week though. At least you’ll definitely whether or not you want to buy the full game once the trial concludes, which coincidentally ends just before Christmas…

Very sly of you, Activision. Get them hooked with a nice free trial, just in time for everyone to update their Christmas lists.
