Angry Call of Duty fans have once again put Activision in their crosshairs, calling out the video game giant for adding the 'stupidest' skin yet. In a series that's 23 years old and has added thousands of skins, calling one the stupidest yet is quite the unfortunate accolade.
Black Ops 7 continues to be lambasted over numerous issues, but amid complaints that Call of Duty has lost its way to effectively become a more adult Fortnite that puts cosmetics over gameplay, the Tracer Pack: Action Traction Mastercraft Bundle is causing a stir for all the wrong reasons.

As weapon inspections remain a point of contention for many in CoD, something tells us that the Crane Pain Mastercraft won't go down in history like CoD: Mobile's Mythic MG42, recreating a mini World War II battlefield. The Crane Pain is arguably just as imaginative, playing out like a John Wick movie, as we inspect our Peacekeeper M1. An operator rappels out of a helicopter and swings into a building while being pursued by an enemy. The operator then hops on a motorcycle and goes full Evel Knievel as they ride off the gun, blow up their opponent's helicopter, and then wingsuit to safety.
Even though this is admittedly impressive, the fact that the Action Traction Mastercraft bundle costs 2,400 Cod Points (£16.79/$19.99) means it's a pretty pricey flex for a weapon inspection.

One angry critic wrote: "Weren’t they going to stop all the silly bullsh*t?"
A particularly scathing post from popular account Drama Alert said: "Call of Duty just released the STUPIDEST skin of all time."
A third chuckled: "I genuinely don’t consider people who buy this sort of thing in video games human and you shouldn’t either."
It wasn't all negativity, with others thinking CoD should continue to embrace the weird.
Supporting the Crane Pain Mastercraft animation, one person said: "I hate that I love this sh*t. Honestly the weirder COD gets, the more I dig it."
Another suggested we should just ignore this kind of thing when they concluded: "Biggest dipsh*ts ever will quote tweet this complaining about it and get 10k likes on that tweet and then wonder why they keep making skins like this."

There are several problems here, namely with people in the comments calling out Black Ops 7's meagre campaign length as Activision seems to continue putting its time and effort into creating controversial skins.
In our own Black Ops 7 review, we called CoD a shell of its former self that fell short of franchise highs due to everything from a starving Zombies mode to an unconvincing return of Raul Menendez. If that wasn't enough to deal with, CoD has been battling with AI backlash. After Black Ops 6 own drama involving generative AI, Black Ops 7 then appeared to launch with AI-generated art.
It feels like the Crane Pain Mastercraft is another move in the wrong direction for realism fans, especially when you remember that Black Ops 6 didn't let you carry forward your Nicki Minaj or Beavis and Butthead skins.
In general, a vocal minorty see weapon inspections as predatory marketing. Alongside devs being accused of wasting valuable time of creating these flashy paid-for blueprints instead of fixing bugs, others are outraged that only those willing to pay for premium cosmetic bundles get to see the entire animation.
While it's true that you can no longer laud it over your mates as Homelander in Black Ops 7, weird and wacky weapon inspections in mainline games suggest we're flying dangerously close to the Sun once again.
