Ahead of the launch of Black Ops 6, Call of Duty has introduced its first non-binary Operator in the series.

After an agonising wait for fans, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases this week promising even more high-octane action than ever, whether you’re playing its single-player campaign, traditional multiplayer or slaying zombies. Black Ops 6 also looks to bring in more players now that it’s launching on Xbox Game Pass.

“Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterised by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower,” reads the synopsis of the single player campaign.

It’s fair to say that most gamers will be spending their time playing traditional Black Ops 6 multiplayer modes, competing against other players online. Players will also be unlocking loads of cosmetic items and weapons with the battle pass.

What’s more, as gamers progress through the battle pass system, they will unlock Operators, which are essentially new characters with unique traits and styles. Throughout the cycle of Black Ops 6, there will be tons of new Operators to unlock or purchase, many of which will be guest characters, celebrities and even rubber ducks.

However, as brought to our attention by Twitter user DETONATED, one new Operator in particular has caught the attention of the Call of Duty community and it’s one named Volta Rossi, the first non-binary Operator in the series.

“A street-smart rogue with a blue-blood pedigree, Volta Rossi is an enigma who left the comfort of the aristocracy to forge a new name as a HUMINT specialist,” the description of the character reads. “Their ties to the Luttazzi family give them unique insight into Avalon.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released this Friday on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
