Battlefield 6 fans could have a big reason to get hyped for the next entry in the series with an early hands-on with the game for 72 hours.

Publisher Electronic Arts and its new development team, Battlefield Studios, which consists of DICE veterans and other developers, hopes that Battlefield 6 (not its official title) will be a huge success following the mishaps of 2021’s Battlefield 2042.

When Battlefield 2042 launched, it lacked a plethora of basic features, such as competent matchmaking that keeps friends together in continuous games, a stat tracking system, and weapon customisation, to name a few.

Above all else, it just wasn't a particularly great game, at least judging by the standards set by previous entries in the series. Oh, and it had no single-player campaign, which disappointed a lot of fans way before Battlefield 2042 was even released.

From what I hear, most of the missing features are now in Battlefield 2042, gameplay has been improved, and the multiplayer maps have been tweaked but it’s too little, too late, for even some of the most loyal fans of the series.

This is why EA will try to do all it can to learn from the wrongs of Battlefield 2042 to ensure that Battlefield 6 will be the best game that it can be, or at least, I hope.

As reported by Comicbook.com, one way to help give Battlefield 6 the best start possible is by opening a previously existing pre-alpha test to more gamers so that they can provide valuable intel to the developers.

The pre-alpha test will be taking place this weekend, starting on Friday, 23 May and will run for a total of 72 hours. One of the main purposes of this test is to put as much stress on the servers as possible to prepare for the full launch of Battlefield 6.

Unfortunately, the alpha test is invite-only, for those that are enrolled with ‘Battlefield Labs’, so it’s quite an exclusive club. That being said, it wouldn't be surprising if EA announces a public beta test later in the year.

Battlefield 6 hasn't been officially revealed yet, and rumours suggest that the reveal could happen this summer. As always, we’ll keep you posted when we learn more.

It’s safe to assume that Battlefield 6 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
