Finally, after months of rumours and leaks, the next Battlefield has been announced with a snippet of gameplay, and we’ll even get a chance to play it early.

Announced across the Battlefield social media channels, a new studio has been formed, befittingly named Battlefield Studios and it will be working on the next entry in the popular military shooter, once exclusively under the DICE banner.

Check out the new Battlefield trailer below!

Battlefield Studios will consist of developers from DICE, Motive and another studio called Ripple Effect, all led by industry veterans.

Furthermore, fans will be able to register to take part in its upcoming playtest to help shape the final version of the game, with this process known as Battlefield Labs.

According to the press release provided by EA, the first phase of the next Battlefield playtest will go live in the coming weeks and fans can sign up here. If chosen to take part, you’ll be getting an early taste of the game before the majority of the world (outside of the developers, of course).

At least for the first playtest, servers across Europe and North America will be put to the test. If you’re not selected for the first playtest, I’m sure there will be other opportunities.

“I’ve been playing Battlefield long before I joined the team,” said Vince Zampella, head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organisation. “This game has so much potential. To find that potential, with us being pre-alpha, now is the time to test the experiences our teams have been building for our upcoming launch. Battlefield Labs empowers our teams to do that.”

No release date has been announced for the next Battlefield, but it’s safe to assume that it could be a year or two away, and will likely be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

As always, we’ll keep you posted when we hear further developments on the next Battlefield.
