Battlefield 6 120fps Confirmed, But Only For One Console

Battlefield 6 will apparently support 120FPS, but only on one console, according to a source.

Last week, Electronic Arts unveiled the multiplayer portion of Battlefield 6, which will be having a few open beta weekends throughout August.

It’s set to be a pretty big return to form for the series, bringing back dedicated weapon classes and a more in-depth destruction system. You can read more about that in our exclusive preview.

In the days following the reveal, more tidbits of info regarding the upcoming game have come to light, including what the performance will be like on console.

According to a Battlefield Labs participant, Battlefield 6 runs at 60FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in quality mode, while performance mode yields up to 90FPS. However, the user also revealed that PS5 Pro will support framerates up to 120FPS.

The user also says that the Xbox Series S, being the weakest of these platforms, will only have a quality mode and won’t have a performance mode. So the maximum framerate on there will be 60FPS.

These numbers were all tested on Conquest mode with 64 players, which is currently the highest player count a single match can have in Battlefield 6. On smaller modes such as Breakthrough and Team Deathmatch, performance is more consistent and even smoother.

For a game pretty fast-paced and may require quick reactions at times, it’s good to see that there’ll be no “30FPS jail” for it though.

It should mean the game is more accessible to everyone and players won’t be put off by performance issues.

But of course, a reminder that just because a game can support “up to 120FPS” doesn’t mean it always will. There will be occasional dips and performance issues from time-to-time depending on what’s happening in the game.

So be sure to take all this information into consideration when it comes to playing the game yourself. If you’re expecting to hit 120FPS with no drops, you may come away disappointed.
