Elden Ring Fans Can't Miss Ubisoft's Surprise Free PC Offering

If you love FromSoftware RPGs such as Elden Ring, you don't want to miss out on this promising Ubisoft game on PC, which you can check out for free.

Sometimes it can feel like the Soulsborne genre is oversaturated, with a plethora of RPGs all wanting to capture a snippet of that FromSoftware magic. And in all honesty, who could blame them?

While FromSoftware has been around since the 90s, with its first game King’s Field on the original PlayStation in 1994, fans across the world perhaps truly began to take notice with the launch of Demon’s Souls on the PS3 in 2009.

Looking back, I think my first FromSoftware experience was with 2002’s Otogi: Myth of Demons on the original Xbox. Man, that game was tough (which will be no surprise). If you’ve never played that game, I suppose it’s kind of like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice meets Bloodborne, which isn't a bad combo if you ask me.

The next FromSoftware offering will be the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods. This game doesn't have a confirmed release date at the time of writing, other than a tentative 2026 launch window. That could change with the latest Nintendo Direct scheduled for today though!

What Is the Elden Ring-Esque Ubisoft Game in Question?

That game is Morbid Metal, a challenging action RPG developed by the indie studio, Screen Juice, with the backing of Ubisoft.

If you want to see more from GAMINGbible, make us a preferred source on Google.

“Explore the remains of a distant dystopian future and survive a brutal world where you can expect high-octane, fast-paced action. Master dozens of unique combos to wreak havoc upon your enemies,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“Forged with grit and sharpened by passion, this fast-paced rogue-lite lets you shapeshift between characters mid-combat so you can combine abilities to stylishly destroy your opponents.”

Morbid Metal looks like it should be an absolute blast, at least judging by its gameplay trailers.

To me, at least, it gives me vibes of a sci-fi Sekiro Shadows Die Twice meets Elden Ring. The gameplay looks fast and frantic, and visually, it looks stunning to boot.

At the time of writing, Morbid Metal doesn't have a full release date, but it is intended to launch as a Steam early access title this year.

However, it does have a free playable demo that you can download right now.

From what I can tell, there doesn't appear to be any definitive plans to bring Morbid Metal to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. With a bit of luck, hopefully, that will change if the game proves to be a success on PC.
