Assassin’s Creed is an ever-expanding franchise, packed to the rafters with stellar protagonists and yet when someone says those very two words, Assassin’s Creed, it’s always Ezio Auditore that springs to mind.

Perhaps it’s because Ezio has led several entries compared to some of his single-appearance counterparts, or perhaps it’s just because he’s simply the best.

Well, if you’ve been dreaming of Ezio’s return, what I’m about to tell you may be music to your ears.

I’ll get the bad news out of the way first. Ezio Auditore isn’t yet set to return within the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

The good news? He’s being added as a playable character in Ubisoft’s long-running melee action game For Honor.

The next Assassin’s Creed instalment, codenamed Assassin’s Creed Red, is reportedly set to star a male samurai and female shinobi.

If you’re yet to dive into For Honor, my only question is, ‘Why?’ Originally released back in 2017, For Honor is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Played from a third-person perspective, players join one of five factions and engage in a number of melee fights, either in the single or multiplayer modes.

Considering For Honor launched in 2017, it still boasts a respectable player base but I have no doubt that the addition of Ezio will give it a nice little boost.

As for exactly what’s on offer, players can now grab the ‘Ezio Auditore - Peacekeeper Hero Skin’, the ‘Fear Not The Darkness’ execution, the ‘Apple of Eden’ mythic outfit, the ‘Master Assassin’ free roam emote, and the ‘Eagle Companion’ signature.

These items are only available for a limited time, from 25 April to 16 May, so do act quickly if you want to avoid missing out.

If it’s the next Assassin’s Creed instalment you’re after, you’re going to want to keep your eyes on the next Ubisoft Forward showcase which is set to be held on 10 June 2024.

It’s believed that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will get a full reveal, which could see its rumoured title confirmed.
