We’re not sure what’s real anymore. Although we appreciate video game codenames aren’t always connected to the final title, this recent leak has thrown us.

Mainly because we’d become so used to referring to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title as Assassin’s Creed Red. Yet, it’s apparently going to be called Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Some of the fandom is still reeling at the idea of live service elements being in the new Ubisoft game, and now they’ve got to come to terms with its new name. Assuming this leak is accurate...

Check out the reveal for Assassin's Creed Red below,

Events unfolded on Twitter where user @UBI_FraxV2 posted about the “real” title, as well as two DLCs being planned for said game.

Here’s the thing, though: you can’t see these tweets because the account has been suspended.

The suspension, while coming at an interesting time, doesn’t necessarily mean that the leak is delivering the truth. We know we have to say this a lot, but until the publisher confirms details, it’s best to remain cautious when digesting leaks.

That being said, if the upcoming RPG is going to be called Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we could be in for a stealth-heavy adventure.

What is more, it could refer to the mystery surrounding the narrative – Assassin’s Creed Origins’ story did indeed tackle the origins of the assassins.

Either way, the confirmed two new protagonists for AC Red (sorry, it’s too hard not to call it that) will have quite the tale to take us on once the game launches.

Should all the AC Red news not sit right with you, there’s the refreshing move to a long-awaited Aztec setting in yet another new AC game you can focus on instead. For good or ill, Ubisoft is sinking a lot of energy into all these AC instalments.

How do you feel about AC Red actually being AC Shadows?
