2010 Xbox 360 Classic Gets Sequel, Costs Nothing to Give it a go

A meaty sequel

I really can’t overstate just how special the Xbox 360 was as a console, providing a classic gaming experience, whilst at the same time catapulting the ecosystem forward to the multiplayer-heavy gaming world we live in today.

A big part of that appeal was the sheer number of classic titles that appeared on the platform, with games like Halo: Reach and Fable 2 serving as some of the standout games of any generation, let alone just the one they came in.

Outside of those heavy hitters, the console was also home to a ton of arcade titles that often came at a much lower price, but with just as much potential fun.

Limbo is one that immediately springs to mind, but there was another game that was arguably even more iconic, combining a brutal difficulty curve with some genuinely excellent artwork and stylistic choices.

Now, the latter is about to get a follow-up after more than sixteen years, and there are some big changes this time around.

Super Meat Boy 3D is Coming in 2026

Super Meat Boy, the horrendously difficult platformer where you play as a skinless cube shaped human whose fleshy form doesn’t respond particularly well to the spikes and saws that litter each level.

Since the release of the first game in 2010, we haven’t heard from the series at all, aside from in Super Meat Boy Forever, which was originally intended to be a mobile game. Thankfully, it’s about to make a long awaited return, and this time you’ll be playing everything from a whole new 3D perspective.

The game features, "brutal, but fair levels designed to break you,” and “Dark World levels so tough, you'll scream in the rain at a bus stop,” so if you prefer your games to be cosy and relaxing, this may not be the one for you.

If you are feeling a little more masochistic though, the original is one of the best examples of the genre during that period, and the follow-up is sticking with a very similar approach, if you forget about the new camera.

The development of the game is once again headed up by Team Meat, who have dropped some big gameplay promises, including dynamic boss fights. We will also be picking up where we left off, as we once again try to rescue our bandage girlfriend from the clutches of evil.

The really cool news is that there’s a demo available to play right now, so you can see if you want to add it to your wishlist ahead of its release in 2026.
