Pokémon Day is almost here, and fans of the franchise are hoping the next mainline entry, Gen 10, is unveiled.

Every year, Pokémon Day is celebrated on 27 February with the occasion typically marked with a Pokémon Presents.

The showcase is somewhere that The Pokémon Company can update fans on upcoming releases.

If you’re not already aware, this year’s edition is set to be very special as 27 February 2026 marks Pokémon’s 30th anniversary.

Believe it or not, it was all the way back in 1996 that Pokémon Red and Green first landed.

It’s with all of this in mind that many of us are desperately hoping that Gen 10 could be announced amidst this momentous occasion.

Such an announcement is long overdue after all, given that Gen 9, Scarlet & Violet, arrived almost four years ago.

Gen 10 is yet to be revealed, but you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise; plenty of leaks have surfaced pertaining to the title.

Of course, we can’t exactly verify whether these leaks are true or not, but it’s widely assumed that Gen 10 will be titled Wind and Waves.

In the latest leak to come to light, the game’s apparent starter ‘mon have been revealed, or at least vague descriptions of them.

Gen 10’s Water Type Sounds Like an Early Fan-Favourite

This is according to Twitter/X user Light_88_, as spotted by ScreenRant.

They claim that the grass type is “kinda goofy or underwhelming at first, but it grows on you”.

I sure like the sound of that.

The fire type is reportedly “extremely cute, has all the makings of a fan favourite”, while the water type “absolutely serves, total standout”. Good for them.

I’m already starting to see why Pokémon fans are already up in arms over who they’re going to choose.

I like the sound of all of these three fellas. Goofy, cute, and the ability to serve are all desirable attributes; in fact, it sounds a lot like my IRL friendship group.

Already, I have a feeling the water type is standing out as an early favourite.

“Hmm honestly that water one sounds like my vibe,” replied eledesanches.

“Man that water type sounds like a total vibe honestly,” added SamanthaGi58020.

On the other end of the spectrum, the grass type growing on you sounds as if the ‘mon could be the overlooked choice come launch day.

I do have to remind you once more to take all of this with a hefty pinch of salt, as there’s nothing at this stage to confirm that it’s true.

What I will add is that on Pokémon Day later this month, we’ll be here to bring you all of the latest announcements, including that Gen 10 reveal if it surfaces.
