Horror fans, whether you like Outlast, Silent Hill or Phasmophobia, you might want to check out this cheap Steam game today.

In this day and age, especially as we get closer to Christmas, we don’t always have the money to spare to splash out on major AAA releases, let alone having a great deal of time with all the family commitments and whatnot.

Thankfully, there are tons of free-to-play games that we can check out, such as Fortnite, Fall Guys and Call of Duty: Warzone, to name a few. However, many of the free-to-play games are battle royale-inspired, with some exceptions.

We can of course check out free demos with a plethora on offer, whether you play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo or mobile devices. Yet, as helpful as demos are, they only give a small sample of the game in the hope of enticing us to make a full purchase.

That being said, places such as the Steam store have tons of games that cost next to nothing. Sure, they’re probably very short games, but if it’s less than £1/$1, I won't complain too much. One such game is the topic of this article.

Indie Horror Fans, Check Out This Steam Game

The game in question is called The Cradle, released just this week.

It’s developed by the indie GiBar and published by RoBot. It looks heavily inspired by the 2013 first-person horror from Red Barrels, Outlast.

“You are Alex, a curious journalist who has decided to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the entire staff of Synergy Soft. Six months ago, all the employees went mad at once, staging a bloody massacre,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.

“The official version is mass psychosis. But the truth is much more terrifying.

“You sneak into the abandoned office, where time has stopped. Desks are smashed, personal belongings and suicide notes are scattered everywhere.

"You quickly realise that something is wrong here. The air hums with unnatural silence, and the shadows on the walls move on their own.”

At the time of writing, while not receiving 100% positive reviews, The Cradle at least has a decent Steam user review rating of “Mostly Positive”.

“Dude, this game actually got me paranoid in my own room at 3am... the silence mechanic is genius, every little creak makes you freeze lol 10/10 would poop myself again,” wrote Aviana.

The Cradle has a very modest RRP of 89p, but it currently has a 30% discount, bringing it down to a super cheap 62p. So, if you’re looking for a cheap horror game to pass a bit of time, it might be worth checking this out.
