PlayStation's State of Play was pretty solid this time around, with several updates that will have pleased fans of the console.
The show revealed October's monthly PlayStation Plus offering, with the very exciting confirmation that Alan Wake 2 will be leading that lineup. The Last of Us II is also available at no extra cost from 26 September, with that game being offered as part of the Plus game catalogue.
The big news that everyone was waiting for, however, was more news on Insomniac Games' upcoming Wolverine release, and it didn't disappoint. We finally got a rough release date, with the game set to arrive in Fall 2026, and we also got to put a face to a name, as Liam McIntyre was confirmed as the actor behind the character in-game.
At this early stage, it seems like a decision that fans of the character and developer are mightily pleased with. Over on Reddit, hundreds flocked to share their thoughts after the State of Play reveal.

"As soon as they said it, it felt like the most obvious thing ever I can't believe I didn't think of it. Perfect casting imo. Crush it Liam!," one said.
"'Hey there, I’m Liam McIntyre' brother I knew who you were before you finished your first word in the trailer! So hyped for this," another thrilled fan added.
Others were a little more cautious in their optimism, with such a long way until the game's release, whilst others just simply hadn't thought of McIntyre as an option, "Just watched the trailer… dude… they got Spartacus 2.0 (Liam McIntyre) as Logan? Didn’t see that as an option in all the fan castings, but not a bad choice," one comment read.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Insmoniac shared a brief statement on the casting and what we can expect from the character.

"Our Wolverine, AKA Logan, is played by actor Liam McIntyre who taps into the rage, pain, and nuances of this iconic character. In this story, he is on the hunt to uncover the secrets of a dark past that keeps eluding him. Unfortunately, in this world, he’ll have to dig his claws deep to pull any shred of information that may lead to answers," it reads.
"Often, that means shredding into a relentless onslaught of enemies who aim to stop him by any means necessary. Fueled by unflinching resilience (and a rapid healing factor), Wolverine won’t go down easy if it means keeping the mission on task."
The trailer was filled with plenty of hints at what we're actually going to get to do when the game does arrive. Several locations, including excitingly Japan, are set to feature in some form, whilst we also got a look at other characters appearing, including Mystique.
With plenty of time still to go before Wolverine does arrive, we'll be keeping our eyes and ears to the ground for further glimpses between now and then.
