For all of the memes about Bethesda releasing a million different versions of Skyrim over the years, there's a reason that they did that. Few games have the ability to keep drawing players back in the way the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series does, with secrets and new stories to uncover seemingly around every corner.
So much so that the community continues to actively share their discoveries after their latest playthroughs, and there are even pretty important quests that managed to slip through the net for some.
Over on Reddit, one user shared a screenshot of the Season Unending quest, which they had never previously known about despite playing through the game several times.
This quest is actually a pretty major part of the story, in which the Dragonborn summons both sides of the Skyrim Civil War to discuss peace terms, alongside the Greybeards and a few other major characters.

The reason they had not come across it to that point is because it never happens if the Civil War questline has already been progressed too far, something which players often do first.
As you'd expect, there are plenty of players in the responses below who were fairly stunned to have never come across this pretty major moment before.
"BRO. I GOT THIS LAST NIGHT. Literally told my coworker today. I wonder if they updated the game and added stuff because I don’t ever remember this and it makes sense because this is obviously one of the main storylines, it was definitely long, but I did enjoy it. Literally doing this mission right now," one said.
Another added, "I've never seen that. I always do the main mission until the part about climbing the mountain and stop before getting there. And then it's 200 hours doing secondary missions, including the civil war, and then I go back to the main mission, but I never got very far in it."

A third was equally confounded, saying "I've never done the civil war quests at all, I've played so much Skyrim and its crazy there are still things about the game I know not much about."
I have to confess that I also never got to do this quest, despite playing several versions of Skyrim through to the end, and so I was equally shocked when settling down to write this one. It might even be the motivation I need to lock in for one last journey across the Nord homeland.
