GTA 6 Must Have These Five Features or We Riot

From social media to hair growth, we have our list!

There is just under a year to go until we finally get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI. Well, if there isn’t yet another delay in the works.

However, at the time of writing, GTA 6 will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 November, 2026, marking the first Grand Theft Auto entry in well over a decade.

Although information surrounding the most anticipated game of all time is pretty scarce, we do know some details. We know that it will take place in and around a modern-day Vice City and will follow the story of Bonnie and Clyde inspired pair Jason and Lucia.

So far, Rockstar has released two cinematic trailers giving us a glimpse into our brand-new characters, setting, and storyline but when it comes to some of the more detailed features, we are still being left in the dark, especially as no gameplay has yet been released.

That is why fans have been discussing which features they would like to see appear in Grand Theft Auto VI to make the Rockstar world feel more immersive than ever.

With titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 pushing the boundaries when it comes to realism, we know it is possible and so it would not be too far-fetched to believe that these features could be implemented, especially as development has taken over a decade.

So I recently did a bit of research to find out some of the most-requested features for Grand Theft Auto VI, and added some of my own of course. Without further ado, let’s take a look at five features GTA 6 should include or else we riot.

Enterable Interiors and Destructible Environments

According to rumours that have been released over the last few years, GTA VI will feature more enterable buildings and interiors than ever before, with some reports revealing that over 60% of the city’s buildings will be accessible.

With the map expected to be double the size of GTA 5’s, it would make sense for even more to be accessible with everything from banks, shops, gyms, bars, gas stations, and beyond expected to be open to players even in story mode.

In Grand Theft Auto V, many buildings are merely there for the aesthetic and so having the doors open to us will add more realism than ever before.

On the same topic, fans would like to see more destructible environments with the ability to shoot your rocket launcher at a nearby building and see real-life physics take control.

Some have even suggested seeing real-time construction move in to fix your damage.

Police Mechanics

There is no denying that the police play a very important role in the Grand Theft Auto universe. If anything, the game would be a lot different if they did not exist.

Many of us grew up running from the cops in various Grand Theft Auto entries but it is the same people who wish to see major improvements in how the police system works in GTA VI.

The general consensus seems to be a more realistic and nuanced police response when you commit crimes around the map. As user Hellraiser1123 shared on r/GTA, there should be a system based on how many wanted stars you have managed to rack up.

“One star should be something like a ticket/fine; stop and let them catch you, and you lose a little cash but the wanted level goes away,” they shared.

“At two stars they're going nonlethal and trying to arrest you. Three stars, they start using lethal weapons; they'll catch you if they can, and kill you if they have to. Four or more stars, they shoot to kill.”

This would definitely add variation, rather than just have the cops shoot you on sight regardless of the crime you have committed.

Additionally, players would like to see the police respond to your appearance, allowing Jason and Lucia to avoid capture by perhaps changing their clothes in a nearby store or hopping into a different vehicle.

Photo Mode

In 2025, it is my opinion that every major game release should come with a dedicated photo mode and GTA VI is no exception.

For Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption 2 was the first of its titles to have one and with many fans boasting about their virtual photography skills, it would be a shame for GTA VI to miss out.

In Grand Theft Auto V, players were able to get out their smart phone at any time and snap some photos but it is very limited compared to an extensive photo mode found in the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and more recently, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

With fans calling out for their favourite games to be given the photo mode treatment, let’s hope that Rockstar has taken that into consideration ahead of launch.

Changes in Physical Appearance

Although GTA 5 allowed our protagonists to adorn themselves with tattoos, change their clothes at will and even get their hair cut, I hope that GTA VI will push the boundaries on how Jason and Lucia will be able to alter their appearance.

With previous Grand Theft Auto entries allowing the protagonist to workout and gradually change their build, I hope that this will be reintroduced in the next title (buff Lucia anyone?)

Not only that but with the latest Grand Theft Auto Online update reintroducing working out, even going as far as to seeing your players die to overexertion, this could be a sign that Rockstar is trying out features that it will introduce fully in GTA VI.

Additionally, bringing in hair growth mechanics like seen in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would also be a realistic, and highly appreciated feature, giving players even more incentive to head to the hairdressers.

Social Media

Last but not least and perhaps the most important is social media. From the trailers we have received so far, we can already determine that social media will play a large role in the story of GTA 6, with NPCs being seen recording each other and sharing on livestreams.

In GTA 5, social media was introduced but it was pretty limited to Michael’s run in with Lifeinvader. As a result, I hope that social media will have a huge impact on player interaction in the future. Maybe Jason and Lucia’s exploits will make it online, seeing them receive more of a reputation or you could message NPCs at will or browse their social media profiles.

Players could also see some of the events taking place around Vice City and beyond, especially events which they have been a part of in some way.

Additionally, Rockstar could utilise its own social media site Social Club in-game, allowing players to communicate with each other, team-up for missions and interact with other GTA VI fans about some of the game’s most iconic moments.

These are just a few of the major features I would like to see added to Grand Theft Auto VI or improved after featuring in some of Rockstar’s previous titles. There is no denying that this list could be longer as we all have high expectations for the most anticipated video game of all time but for now, this will do.
