Star Wars games are all over the place and are the perfect outlet for those wanting to see more of the galaxy far, far away. This game is one of the best of the bunch.
When you think about Star Wars games you probably think about the classics Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) or Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Perhaps you think about the more modern games though like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or Star Wars Outlaws.
There’s a nice middle ground between the old and the new however and if you’re playing on Xbox you basically get a free remaster of, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed tells the tale of Starkiller, an overpowered killing machine who’s so strong they could never be canon, at least not in a way that does him justice.

Voiced by Sam Witwer who’s now known for playing Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Maul: Shadow Lord the force wielder was raised as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice before betrayal shifted his destiny elsewhere.
The game was playable on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP and PC, and it was even ported to the Nintendo Switch years later.
Nowadays if you don’t own one or more of those consoles it’s not easily accessible but Xbox Series X/S owners can play it through backwards compatibility, and users will tell you that it’s the best version.
JamieMoranUK said as much in a post on X, saying: “One of the Best Star Wars games of all time. The Xbox 360 title Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. 4K,16x AF, Quick Resume, Instant Loading. It’s basically like a Free Remaster.”
While it’s not an official remaster there is a bit of truth to that statement, as modern Xbox consoles don’t just support a wide array of backwards compatible titles they also enhance them.
With better resolutions, frame boosts and faster load times the Xbox Series X/S is a solid console if your goal is to play classic games with better visuals. Fallout: New Vegas is another great example of this.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed isn’t the only Star Wars game to receive these benefits though as unlike the PlayStation 5 there are loads of games tied to this legendary franchise that are still playable on Xbox. Many of them are also included with Xbox Game Pass if you’ve got a subscription.
Is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed the best Star Wars game of all? It’s hard to say, but it’s definitely up there. Hopefully see an official remake or sequel soon especially as Sam Witwer is keen to reprise his role as Starkiller.
