Xbox new hardware update finally fixes broken feature

An upcoming Xbox hardware update is set to finally improve one of the console's most annoying features. As they say, “better late than never”.
The Xbox Series X/S console has some fantastic features, other than being able to play a plethora of video games and being able to watch a ton of streaming apps at the press of a button. Furthermore, streaming games with the “Play Anywhere” feature on Xbox Game Pass is something that PlayStation Plus should look to as an example of how it’s done.
However, much like everything in life, there’s always room for improvement, and that is certainly the case with how updates to games are implemented on Xbox Series X/S.

Despite having fast internet speeds, the process of downloading updates for games on Xbox Series X/S feels painfully slow. In fact, it’s been a slow process since the Xbox 360 days, some would say. At the very least, the process feels much slower than on PlayStation 5.

“Xbox is finally working to improve game download speeds in upcoming updates,” reads a tweet from CharlieIntel, sourcing Xbox Support.
“Users will experience a new feature to optimise game install and update speeds by introducing a smart download client. Shortly after your game download begins, the client will check which content servers are available for the install or update,” reads an image detailing the new update coming to Xbox.
“It will then test the connection speed to each server pool and select the fastest available connection for that install. The speed test will rerun periodically during the install or update to ensure that the client continues using the fastest available connection.”
No doubt, when this fix finally arrives, this long-overdue quality of life improvement is something that most Xbox games will surely appreciate.
“This was broken for many years, and they finally realised it's time to update,” replied SHAYKAZEGG.
“My download speed is exactly what it should be, except when another Xbox game is downloading at the same time. So hopefully that gets fixed as well, but that could be an issue with my wi-fi,” added SweetSoulBr0tha.
“All this time I thought I was going crazy or that maybe my Xbox was defective,” said EnriqueSquirrel.
“This is crazy, the download speeds have been awful since the Xbox 360 era, heck, when you download a game on PC Game Pass, the download speed is s*** as well,” exclaimed ShinMekaku1.
At this time, there’s no date as to when a fix will be deployed to improve update download times on Xbox Series X/S, but hopefully, we won't be waiting too long, especially now that Microsoft has made its intentions public.
It might not also be the easiest fix for Microsoft to implement, so we may have to be patient waiting for its arrival. That being said, we’ve all been waiting years for this broken feature to be fixed, so we should all be used to waiting by now.
