Crimson Desert receives a significant gameplay improvement that addresses one of its most frustrating features.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, there’s every chance that you have heard of the new action RPG, Crimson Desert, from Pearl Abyss. It’s been widely praised for its sense of adventure, gorgeous visuals and fun combat.
Like most games, not everything is launched in an absolutely perfect state. Sometimes, certainly bugs or necessary tweaks aren't realised until a game has been released into the big wide world, and Crimson Desert is no exception.
As such, despite selling over three million copies across all PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X./S, Pearl Abyss have not rested on its laurels, and since launch, has released updates to make Crimson Desert an even better experience for its gamers.
This week, the latest patch (1.01.00) for Crimson Desert has gone live, and it makes a whole host of quality-of-life improvements, such as decreasing loading times for fast travel, increasing inventory space, and various bug fixes.

However, one standout quality-of-life improvement may seem small, but over the duration of its long campaign, it will make your time spent in Pywel a little easier. The improvement in question is finally being able to instantly craft food with the “Make Now” function.
According to the patch notes, this allows “food and items to be cooked/crafted immediately in the Cooking/Crafting menu once a recipe is selected, without having to separately select ingredients.”
Update 1.01.00 will download and install the next time you fire up Crimson Desert, unless the deeds have been done while your system has been in sleep mode.

By and large, the community is impressed with the work that the developers are putting into Crimson Desert post-launch, but perhaps, respectfully, they could do with a day off.
“Less than 24 hours AND on a weekend. These devs are legendary,” said Redditor hshrimp420.
“They ain’t letting these devs sleep,” replied PowahBamb.
“Let the devs get some sleep, holy s**t,” exclaimed OscilloLives.
“Crimson Desert is by no means a perfect game. It’s an amalgamation of perhaps slightly too many ideas, and that makes for a weirdly paced experience that demands a lot of the player without offering much in the way of help,” said GAMINGbible’s Kate, in her review. “And yet, it left me in awe more times than anything else I’ve played in recent memory with its dazzling open-world.”
Crimson Desert is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
