Elden Ring can be a very frustrating game at times. I don’t think anyone who’s played it can say that they managed to get through the whole thing without getting so wound up at a boss that they needed to step away from the screen, at least once.

Difficulty is a huge part of the game’s identity, as is the case with any Soulsborne title. Obviously, that doesn’t make you feel any better about things when you see ‘You Died’ appear on your TV for the millionth time against the same boss. I’ll never know how many times my flesh was consumed by the scarlet rot, nor do I want to.

Take a look at some of Elden Ring’s funniest mods below.

Twitch streamer xQc (real name Félix Lengyel), was playing in Elden Ring’s PVP Colosseum mode on steam yesterday (23 February) when he got so annoyed that he closed the game and promptly uninstalled it, right then and there. That’s one way to deal with it, I suppose. Take a look at the clip below.

Tomorrow (25 February) marks the Elden Ring’s one-year anniversary, and it’s weird to think that it’s been an entire year since its launch. In that time, it’s managed to sell over 20 million copies (which makes it quite easily FromSoftware’s best-selling game ever), and of course, it also won the coveted Game of the Year award at The Game Awards.

Fans are still waiting on the announcement of a DLC expansion - FromSoftware hasn’t confirmed that it’s actually happening, but based on the track record of other Soulsborne titles eventually getting them, it seems pretty likely. A live-streamed anniversary event is taking place tomorrow in Sweden, and many are hoping that it could be announced then.

Anyway, happy (almost) birthday, Elden Ring - may you continue to aggravate players for years to come.
