Xbox Series X players slam 'serious problem' as console misses out on major release

Xbox Series X players slam 'serious problem' as console misses out on major release

Gamers have been left confused by the fact that Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is seemingly releasing on every platform except Xbox.

Bad news, Xbox users. It’s been confirmed that one highly anticipated new release is coming to basically every possible platform in July except for Xbox. Why? That’s a great question that I wish I had the answer to.

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is, believe it or not, the sequel to 2016’s excellent supernatural adventure, Oxenfree. Set five years after the events of the first game, the sequel sees Riley return to her hometown, Camena, to check out some mysterious radio signals. As you’d expect, what follows is more seriously spooky stuff.

Take a look at the trailer for Oxenfree II: Lost Signals below.

Now, the good news is that there’s really not long to wait for the game - it’s set to release on 12 July. However, as previously mentioned, for some reason it isn’t coming to Xbox at all, despite releasing on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Steam and even Netflix Games.

As ComicBook reports, this understandably hasn’t been going down well with Xbox users: “Ok this is starting to become a serious problem for Xbox. There’s no reason a multi-platform game should be coming to every platform even NETFLIX but not Xbox. What is going on? To make matters worse the first Oxenfree was Xbox exclusive for a brief time,” tweeted @danno_omen. “I'm sure the sequel to Oxenfree is going to be AWESOME, though I'm unbelievably confused as EVERY platform on the planet will be able to play it, BUT Xbox and [in my opinion], it's a BAD look,” @MrboomstickXL wrote. “Where is the Xbox version? We deserve some transparency here as to why,” questioned @ASMRdestiny.

Even more confusingly, no reasoning for the game’s omission from Xbox platforms has been given - it’s not even been stated if it’ll be releasing on Series X/S at a later date. Since it’s releasing on so many other platforms, hopefully most people will still be able to play it if they want to, but the decision is rather baffling.
