Pedro Pascal fans can relax, it looks like we’re getting new Joel scenes in The Last of Us Season 3.
The Last of Us aired its second season earlier this year, and while there have been a few concerns regarding the confirmed Season 3, a lot of fans are still eagerly awaiting its return.
I can’t really discuss what I’m about to discuss here without putting up a massive spoiler warning, so let this be your official spoiler warning for The Last of Us Season 2.
So, as any fan of the series knows, The Last of Us Season 2 features a rather shocking scene early on that sees Joel getting bludgeoned to death with a golf club.

Considering that Pascal is one of the two leads of the series, this scene came out of nowhere for TV fans (with those of us who played the games trying to stop the events from happening like we’re Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar).
We did get more Joel scenes as the season went on in the form of flashbacks, but yeah, Joel is dead and we’re probably not going to see much of Pascal again in future seasons.
However, it looks like we will be getting some new Joel scenes in the upcoming season, according to new information regarding the filming.
Pedro Pascal is Back
As reported by a new entry on Production List, a website that tracks information regarding upcoming film and television series, The Last of Us Season 3 lists Pedro Pascal on the cast sheet.

Pascal is listed alongside his co-star Bella Ramsey, though other actors expected to star like Kaitlyn Dever and Gabriel Luna have not been confirmed yet.
Considering the season is still technically in pre-production though, I imagine we’ll get confirmation about the rest of the cast before filming begins.

Filming for The Last of Us Season 3 is expected to begin on 5 January, 2026. This moves filming up from the previously rumoured 1 April, 2026 date.

Joel making an appearance in Season 3 makes sense, to be fair. The third season will supposedly adapt the second half of The Last of Us: Part 2, which primarily features Abby’s half of the story in Seattle.
Although Joel doesn’t really appear in Abby’s story much, there is a scene that shows Joel’s death from the perspective of her group which may be included in the third season. I’d imagine there will also be a few more flashbacks too which could feature Joel.
