Later this week, PlayStation is set to hold its longest State of Play event to date - 60 minutes of updates from both first and third-party studios.
I’ll be here live bringing you all of the latest updates from the event, but I’m here today to offer some insight as to what we might be able to expect.
In terms of first-party releases, it’s perhaps incredibly likely that we’ll get an update on Marvel’s Wolverine, although that could arrive in many forms.
I wouldn’t be surprised, for example, if Sony unveiled a themed DualSense alongside the title’s release date, but that is merely my own speculation.

I’m a tad baffled why Horizon Hunters Gathering dropped its reveal ahead of the State of Play. Was it making way for something else Horizon related?
We’re also long overdue seeing that rumoured metroidvania God of War spin-off if it is indeed real.
Personally, I’m also convinced The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog will stop by which, admittedly, is at the very top of my wishlist.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s Crunch Time In Recent Months Remains Unexplained
Naughty Dog is currently working on new IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet of which we’ve heard nothing since its initial reveal over one year ago.
We’re definitely due an update, but there’s actual evidence to suggest that one is on the way.
In December, reports claimed that Intergalactic’s development team was experiencing crunch, despite the game targeting a supposed 2027 release.

For those who don’t know the lingo, crunch essentially sees devs working lengthy overtime in order to reach a deadline. It’s not exactly healthy or ideal.
A report by Bloomberg claimed this all pertained to a “demo”.
From October until the end of January 2026, the vast majority of Naughty Dog’s staff were reportedly ordered into the office five days a week instead of the usual three, with staff being asked to log an additional eight hours of overtime per week on an internal spreadsheet. That was two weeks ago, and now a PlayStation State of Play has been announced? The timing is very coincidental.

When such reports arose, it was heavily suspected that this was an internal demo, perhaps intended to showcase to investors and top executives how development was progressing.
With a hefty State of Play now revealed to be on the way though, one which falls suspiciously after Intergalactic’s end of January demo deadline, many are wondering whether we’ll get a fresh reveal at tomorrow’s event.
“Could be nothing, but ND finished the demo for Intergalactic two weeks ago, and now we're getting a State of Play,” suggested Reddit user ERASER345.
“I think this year we are going to see a lot, window release included,” added GymratAmarillo.
“Man I hope so, but I think we'll probably see it in the September SoP. Sony really likes its shorter marketing campaigns,” ohmygodbru remarked.
That last point is worth keeping in mind and as I said, it was originally believed that this was an internal demo, so we may have been correct in that original assertion.
If Naughty Dog has cooked up something for the State of Play, don’t expect a demo to mean it’s something you can play yourself.
With the State of Play due to be held on Thursday, answers will soon be ours.
