Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the next game from The Last of Us studio Naughty Dog, has added another cast member to its large lineup of stars.

Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann, who has also directed games like The Last of Us Part II and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, posted a new photo on his Instagram page showing actress Merle Dandridge wearing a motion capture suit, seemingly confirming a role for her in Intergalactic.

Dandridge is best known for playing Alyx Vance in Half-Life 2 and its expansions, but Naughty Dog fans will know her as Marlene in The Last of Us, the leader of the Fireflies who sets the plot into motion.

She reprised the role for The Last of Us Part II and again in the live-action HBO adaptation of the game, appearing in the first season for two episodes.

“Merle Dandridge is a n̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶ intergalactic treasure,” Druckmann writes on his Instagram page, tagging Dandridge in the same post.

However, there is no indication yet what role she’ll be playing in the game. But it’s cool to see Druckmann working with yet another actor he’s collaborated with in the past.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Features A Load Of Last Of Us Actors

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is set to star other actors who have worked with Naughty Dog or Druckmann in the past, including Troy Baker, Tati Gabrielle, Halley Gross, Tony Dalton, Stephen A. Chang, and Ashley Scott. Kumail Nanjiani has also been cast in a role.

The game is an action-adventure set 2,000 years in the future, with an alternate history inspired by 1980s-themed culture. You play as veteran bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun (Gabrielle), who has become stranded on a remote planet while tracking the criminal syndicate known as Five Aces.

It will be Naughty Dog’s first game since 2020’s The Last of Us: Part II (yes, we’re not counting the four remasters it's done since then), and the first new IP from the studio since it released the first The Last of Us in 2013.

As for when Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could release, there’s no word from Naughty Dog or Sony on this yet.

However, rumours have suggested that it could be released as early as 2027, around three years since it was announced at The Game Awards in 2024.
