When Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in July 2015, very few would have predicted the phenomenon it would become. Sure, we had an inkling that it was going to be a hit with all the social media buzz it garnered, but I’d assume that its success even exceeded the expectations of its creators and cast of actors.

Stranger Things would run for five seasons and 42 episodes, coming to its emotional end on the new year of January 2026. Granted, season five had some bumps, but I personally loved its conclusion, especially with it being somewhat open-ended for a certain lead character.

During my interview with Lady Dimitrescu actress, Maggie Robertson of Resident Evil Village, to paraphrase, she said that you should always leave the audience wanting more, and I feel that was achieved with Stranger Things season five.

Now a Stranger Things creator has teased a ‘lost season’ of the popular Netflix series that will likely leave us with so many unanswered questions.

More Stranger Things Is on the Way Soon

While we never got more live-action Stranger Things, despite rumours of Netflix being on the verge of releasing a bonus episode, we did get another intriguing alternative.

Announced in January 2026, Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 is an animated spin-off prequel set between seasons two and three. With this series yet to be released, we’re not sure what else to expect, but we do know that it looks like a cancelled Telltale Games project.

As reported by GamesRadar (via Empire), the creator of Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, Eric Robles, has shed more light on what fans should expect with the new series when it arrives in April.

Robles said, “We wanted to go back to Hawkins and feel like a lost season, when the kids weren't trying to save the world, they were just trying to save the town."

Having confidence in the story that Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 will tell, Robles added, “You could easily take this and make it the live-action version.”

Could a live-action remake of this 'lost season' ever happen? I think it's unlikely.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 will premiere on Netflix on 23 April 2026 and is expected to run for 10 episodes. While the episode length hasn't been confirmed yet, I would be surprised if episodes lasted more than 30 minutes each.
