Just one month after it aired its season finale, Stranger Things has made its grand return.
Your favourite characters will be making a comeback in Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85, an upcoming animated TV series set between seasons two and three.
It sees Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Max unravel a “paranormal mystery terrorising their town”.
The series is set to premiere on 23 April on Netflix but ahead of that date, you can catch a glimpse of the series courtesy of the new trailer.
Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 Has Dropped Its First Trailer
I’ll admit, I’m pretty impressed. The art style is beautiful and Tales From ‘85 really does appear to capture that 80s Saturday morning cartoon feeling.

The only thing I’m struggling with is the plausibility of the series.

By all accounts, it looks like the group have quite the encounter with various nasties of the Upside Down.
I find it somewhat hard to believe that whatever capers are experienced here wouldn’t be mentioned at all during the mainline series.
I’m happy to push that disbelief to one side though.
The series introduces an all-new cast given that many of the original actors have aged out of their roles.

Brett Gipson will portray Hopper, with Luca Diaz as Mike, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Elisha Williams as Lucas, Ben Plessala as Will, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, and Jeremy Jordan as Steve.
I’m pleased to see the trailer has generated a positive reaction, as Conformity Gate left many feeling a tad underwhelmed.
One reaction that particularly caught my eye though was a remark from Twitter/X user ShawnNOrlando who remarked just how much Tales From ‘85 looks like a Telltale Games release, and now I can’t unsee it.
“My tin foil hat theory is this was a cancelled Telltale Game from like two years ago that they retooled into this animated series,” they remarked. “Everything about this feels like a Telltale game.”
Plenty agreed.
“Dude, I said the exact same,” replied drubov.
“The resemblance is actually uncanny,” added WatchHollie.
It’s true. Tales From ‘85 definitely shares a visual likeness with Telltale’s back catalogue, but I also think Stranger Things suits the studio’s choose-your-own-adventure formula too.
I’d personally love to see a Stranger Things video game released along those lines and, in fact, have voiced how I think one might be coming.
Don’t forget that DON’T NOD and Netflix have teamed up to create a video game based on a major IP.
DON’T NOD is also known for its choice-based formula, so perhaps this series is a forerunner of that game. Stranger things have happened … sorry.
