Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 2 Gets Tantalising Update

A girl can dream

Airing back in 2024 and taking the Star Wars universe by storm, The Acolyte was a tour de force but after it was unceremoniously cancelled after just one season, fans are eager to see its return.

Set at the end of Star War’s High Republic era and before the events of the Skywalker Saga, The Acolyte followed the story of a former Padawan who reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes.

The investigation leads them to a Sith Lord known as The Stranger and it is this character, also known as Qimir, who was played by actor Manny Jacinto during The Acolyte.

Jacinto, who is currently doing promotional material for his latest movie Freakier Friday, recently sat down with Screen Rant and it was not long before talk turned to The Acolyte and its heartbreaking cancellation.

The Acolyte was effing great,” the interviewer said. “And I think it was such a bummer that we’re not going to get another season.”

Following a recent trip to Disneyland, Jacinto was asked about fan reactions as this was surely the number one place where Star Wars fans would assemble.

“Are you hopeful that we can maybe see [The Stranger/Qimir] again?” The interview asks.

“Always, always hopeful,” Jacinto shares. “I would love to run it back.”

“It’s all love and it’s so special. We’ll put it out there! Fingers crossed.”

At the time of writing, The Acolyte still remains firmly cancelled with Lucasfilms and Disney+ showing no signs of renewing it for a second season.

However, with fans eager for more, especially following a Darth Plagueis-shaped cliffhanger, they remain hopeful that a renewal will be on the cards in the future.

In the meantime, Jacinto can be seen starring in the recently released Freakier Friday and the Star Wars universe continues to expand with multiple television shows and movies on the cards over the next few years.
