Star Wars Finally Confirms What Happens to Sith After They Die

Life after death might not be possible for the Sith

What happens after death has always been a major plot point in Star Wars, with the Jedi in particular having a pretty extensive understanding of what exactly happens when they shuffle off their galactic mortal coil.

The Phantom Menace's Qui-Gon Jinn was famous for his deep understanding of the light side of the Force, so much so that many considered him more capable in that area than even Yoda. It was thanks to that knowledge that he was able to become the first Jedi in history to become a Force Ghost, maintaining his personality and wisdom after death, just appearing in an ethereal form instead.

That appears to be an option available to most Jedi who are dedicated enough to learn exactly how to do it, but the options available to the Sith are considerably more opaque in the Star Wars lore.

Now, thanks to actor Sam Witwer, we do know a little bit more. Witwer revealed that a scene featuring powerful Sith Darth Revan was cut from the Clone Wars series by George Lucas himself and it confirms what many have suspected for a while.

In that scene, Revan appeared as a Force Ghost, with Lucas stepping in to cancel that narrative thread, stating that the SIth "cannot conceive of anything beyond death".

As an alternative, the dark side allows them to attempt to remain in the physical world in some form, usually by linking themselves to objects or places.

This further underlines the limitations that the dark side is forced to operate under. Though it undoubtedly gives those who master it fairly unprecedented levels of power (Darth Vitiate being a great example), it lacks in specific areas that often give the Jedi the edge they need.

With the Star Wars lore expanding all the time, it's nice to know that the evil Sith don't get to live on without worry.
