Star Wars' most important character never showed up in the movies

THIS guy trained Yoda?!

Lewis Parker

One of Star Wars’ most important characters, who was responsible for training the likes of Yoda and Mace Windu, hasn’t popped up in literally any of the films… but they have been spotted in one of Disney’s TV shows.

Thank you in advance to CBR's Sterling Ulrich for their write-up on this character's lore and background!

Considering all of the events that everything from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace to Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker covered, it’s kind of weird that there are still so many mysteries surrounding the Jedi Order’s origins.

Sure, we know the basics, like why they were founded and who its original figureheads were, but this is an order that’s spanned tens of thousands of years… which is why it’s kind of weird that the one person (if you can call them that) who lived through it all hasn’t actually appeared in any of the films.

Andor season 2 is the latest project to air.

I am, of course, referring to Professor Huyang, the droid that helped train and build the lightsabers of both Yoda and Mace Windu.

In fact, it’s more than likely that Huyang actually helped train hundreds of well-known Jedi, and it’s simply never been mentioned, because he’s the only person who retains the majority of the Jedi Order’s knowledge.

This guy has been around since 25,020 BBY. To put that into perspective, the events of the Disney+ series Ahsoka are set in 12 ABY… so, he’s been around for roughly 25,000 years at this point.

Speaking of Ahsoka, Huyang’s appearance in the series is actually the only time he’s popped up in live action.

We may yet see Huyang in a live-action Star Wars film very soon however, as Dave Filoni has stated that season 2 of Ahsoka and the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu are heavily linked in some way.

Here’s hoping Huyang finally gets the love he deserves when The Mandalorian & Grogu drops in 2026.
