It seems as if Donald Glover’s portrayal as the space scoundrel Lando Calrissian is once again destined for the big screen. In the latest tidbit of news, the Lando project has done a 180.

When news first broke of Glover returning to his Star Wars role, we expected a big screen release in keeping with the run of films from Lucasfilm. Then, some time down the line, we got word that Lando would become a show and premiere on Disney+, as so many recent Star Wars projects have. Much like current Star Wars obsession, Ahsoka.

Ahsoka is currently dazzling viewers on Disney Plus. Take a look at the trailer below for what many are calling the best Star Wars project in years.

Speaking on the ‘Pablo Torre Finds Out’ podcast Stephen Glover discussed the future of the Lando project starring his brother, seemingly confirming that it’s no longer a show and we’ll be watching it in cinemas.

Glover’s portrayal of a young Lando Calrissian first appeared in the 2017 film Solo which followed a young Han Solo through his life before he ran into a random Jedi and smart mouth princess. While the film didn’t open to the rave reviews needed, fans wanted more of Glover’s smouldering performance.

In April 2023, Donald Glover did tease fans a little when Lando was mentioned in an interview with GQ magazine, saying, “We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say without Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.”

Stephen Glover dropped this galactic bombshell saying, “It’s not even a show… the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike.”

Sadly, this is all the information that came out of the conversation. Star Wars fans can keep hoping for more news to drip through like gossip in the cantina, once the actors and writers strikes are resolved.
