Star Wars creator confirms 'strongest Jedi in history' isn't who we thought

The Force is strong with this one

Star Wars creator George Lucas confirms who is the strongest Jedi in history, and it might not be who you thought.

Whether it’s fighting for the forces of good or evil, Star Wars is not short of powerful heroes and villains. However, power can come in many forms, such as physical and mental strength, imparting wisdom or a keen dabbler in mystical forces.

Over the years, Star Wars fans have discussed who is the most powerful Jedi, and perhaps the first few names that come to mind are Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi or Mace Windu.

Yet, as I alluded to earlier, George Lucas has apparently already confirmed who is the most powerful Jedi in the Star Wars universe.

“Who is the strongest Jedi or Sith in all of history?” asked Redditor Fantastic-Sir460. “When considering both lightsaber skill and mastery of the Force.”

According to the top answer from GreyWizard1337, Luke Skywalker is the most powerful Jedi, alongside the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. Anakin Skywalker was said to have the most potential to be the most powerful, but that potential wasn't quite fulfilled.

If it wasn't for Obi-Wan Kenobi chopping off Anakin’s limbs during their battle on Mustafar, Anakin would have eventually fulfilled his potential when he fully embraced the dark side of the Force as Darth Vader.

However, that potential was hindered by the fact that Anakin wasn't a fully formed human with all limbs when he evolved into Darth Vader.

Lucas also said that Luke and Anakin had the same potential to be the most powerful Jedi, but Luke was able to fulfil that potential due to mastering his abilities with all limbs intact. Well, apart from getting his hand chopped off in The Empire Strikes Back.

Luke Skywalker is also seriously overpowered in Star Wars Legends, but Legends is non-canonical, so that doesn't really count.

So there you have it, Luke Skywalker is the most powerful Jedi according to George Lucas, but to be fair, you probably already knew that.
