Star Wars fans have been discussing the origins of the great Jedi Master Yoda, and agree that less is more.
We were first introduced to this cute and wise, green alien species in Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, when Luke Skywalker travelled to Dagobah for some expert guidance and training from Master Yoda.
Over the years, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding Yoda’s species with no definitive answers. There has been speculation and suggestions, but in truth, only Star Wars creator George Lucas likely knows for sure what is right and what is wrong.

“Why are there so few members of Yoda’s species shown?” asked a Reddit user. “So far, we have only seen three.” I’d guess those three are Yoda, Yaddle and Grogu.
The rest of the Reddit thread responded in the best way because if we knew more about the species, they’d be less intriguing and could ruin the theories we all love to discuss.
“Sometimes, less is more,” replied SillyMattFace. “Three little gremlins that are exceptionally strong Force users are mysterious and cool. Thousands of them swarming about the place would make them commonplace and ordinary. I hope we never find out a single thing more about them, not even the species name.”
“Extremely slow development (50+ years to toddler), probably suggests an extremely slow reproductive rate,” said dcheesi, making a valid point. “So there just aren't that many of them, relative to other, faster-breeding species in the galaxy.”

“George Lucas wants them to be mysterious for narrative reasons,” explained Namorath82.
As much as I’m intrigued to learn about Yoda’s species, I’d prefer it to be shrouded in mystery. As Redditor SillyMattFace puts it, “Less is more.”
That’s not to say that some of the Disney and Lucasfilm bigwigs won't reveal all one day, but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that they don't.
You can watch the entire Star Wars saga on Disney Plus, right now.
