Star Wars fans are still shocked over a cancellation that left them scratching their heads.
As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I admit that it’s not been a great time lately for our beloved franchise located in a galaxy far, far away. Growing up, movies such as Star Wars, Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones have provided some fantastic memories.
However, in this modern era, it’s not always been that great, not only with the Star Wars sequel trilogy spanning from 2015 to 2019, but also that woeful Ghostbusters reboot in 2016.
2022’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny didn't do the Indy adventures of yesteryear any favours either. So, it’s no wonder that many fans have lost faith in the franchises we loved from our childhood.

That being said, the Disney Plus series Andor is fantastic, so go and watch that if you haven't already.
Last year, Star Wars: The Acolyte arrived on Disney Plus and with its High Republic setting taking place roughly 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, its premise at least had some potential.
Sadly, that wasn't totally fulfilled. While there are many that enjoyed The Acolyte, its whimsical writing and unlikable lead characters all contributed towards its cancellation after just one season.
One Star Wars fan in particular is especially disappointed that there seems to be no indication that The Acolyte will return anytime soon. Just a heads up, please be mindful of spoilers from the Reddit post below.

“The Acolyte - I don't get it,” exclaimed Redditor Nautilus_pt. “Sorry if this has been debated a thousand times, but I just saw The Acolyte, and I don't get the hate,” before going into greater detail.
“I don’t disagree. I thought it had some cool bits. I really like the witches and the Dathomir story. It definitely had some not great episodes, but overall, I think it was a perfectly fine addition to the universe,” replied ScoutsOut389.
“I found it weird that a lot of prequel lovers were hating it. The way I saw it was a love letter to the prequels,” explained WhiteAle01. “The fighting style, the politics, and even the sometimes corny dialogue, set up for stuff like vergences in the Force. It was all done to support the story of the prequels.”
“I'll watch anything Star Wars once. That includes The Acolyte. The fight scenes in it were the best, in my opinion,” said Snarf_the_brave. “But the characters weren't compelling, the story wasn't well written, and it was extremely predictable.”

At the end of the day, whatever forms of entertainment we enjoy are subjective. Do I miss The Acolyte? No, not at all. However, I’d be happy for those who would love a second season to get one, if it ever happened.
Star Wars: The Acolyte season one is still available to stream on Disney Plus.
