Star Wars fans have realised that only one non-droid character survived throughout all of the original trilogy, at least on-screen.

The Star Wars universe is the ultimate tale of good vs. evil, aka light vs. dark, featuring heroes that we love to cheer for and villains that we love to hate. What’s more, Star Wars is so deep in lore, that fans are constantly making discoveries such as the topic of today’s article.

Spanning from 1977 to the present day with no signs of its tales slowing down anytime soon, whether it’s the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy or the sequel trilogy, characters such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Darth Vader have pretty much seen it all.

However, one Star Wars character in particular has seen more than most and that’s the beloved Chewbacca, who at this point, is well over 200 years old.

With Chewie in mind, some fans have only realised that this Wookiee is the only non-droid character to survive all the trilogies.

“Chewbacca lived through all three trilogies. Can you name any other character to live that long?” asked Redditor kingsears29.

“Droids don’t count and neither does Palpatine. He died in Return of the Jedi, but before he died Sidious cloned himself, that's who was in Episode IX,” they continued.

Reddit user fredrico2011 mentions Mon Mothma and Lando Calrissian were also alive. But Mon Mothma is presumed dead and according to non-canon Star Wars Legends, she died in 24 ABY.

In Star Wars canon, we know that Lando Calrissian is alive but he’s not seen in the prequel trilogy other than his younger version in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story.

So, if memory serves me correctly, Chewbacca is the only non-droid character that we’ve seen with our own eyes at least once in each of the three mainline Star Wars trilogies.

You can watch the entire Star Wars saga right now on Disney Plus.
