The Punisher return teased by Jon Bernthal

We've got a craving for vengeance, and The Punisher looks set to satisfy it

It looks like The Punisher is returning, after a tease from its star sent fans into a frenzy. The first two seasons from Netflix were a hit, yet it’s been pretty much radio silence since it ended back in 2019.

But now it seems the beloved vigilante is coming back, much to the delight of fans. Jon Bernthal, the actor who played Frank Castle (just in case you’re not up to speed on your Marvel knowledge), shared an Instagram post with the One Batch, Two Batch fictional book.

“One batch, two batch, penny and dime” isn’t just reference to the book and Daredevil’s season two episode, ‘Penny and Dime’, but it’s also the phrase The Punisher says before delivering his idea of justice.

To see it mentioned could merely be reference to the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again TV series, but fans believe this post is more than a means to fan the flames of hype – it’s a message that Frank Castle has work left undone, and he’s ready to pick up where he left off.

“I’M LOCKED TF IN!!!” said one already hyped-up fan, while another mirrored their sentiments by saying, “LET’S GO!” Remember, there’s been no official announcement that a new The Punisher series is happening, but that isn’t dampening spirits.

Marvel's The Punisher was peak television, as the season two trailer reminds us

Those who haven’t completely lost themselves to the hype machine are curious how Disney would handle a new series, with a fan saying, “If Disney can keep that Netflix level of story, this will be epic.”

The Punisher isn’t exactly a soft and cuddly character, at least, not for those he punishes, and so the fear is that Disney will water down the character to make him more palatable for wider audiences. It’s a reasonable concern, yet it’s also one that could be all for naught as we’re currently dealing with speculation and our own rampant imagination until told otherwise.
